About

welcome to the wonderful world of hoochie coochiness, bootlegging the moonshine of modern music……..

The music industry has changed so much and so rapidly over the last ten years, although the romantiscism of songs being played on old radios, and spinning old 45′s on gramophones in peoples living rooms is an endearing one. The mystery behind just a song without giving too much away has always kept music lovers intrigeued and wanting more. However suffering from nostalgia will leave a lot of talented artists on the way side in todays musical climate. one of the greatest shames of this century is that there are millions of talented artists, who are simply silenced by the amount of stuff there is out there, so hoochie coochie provides a platform for artists to get noticed. While we used to rely on major labels and the big five television companies to regulate and monitor what is  put out into the mainstream, its slowly getting safer to say that this is no longer the case. the artistic output has diminished so much from the glory days of the 60′s explosion to the likes of hundreds of one hit wonders brought about by shows like the X factor, today’s media is saturated. Anyway it took bands such as the arctic monkeys and the libertines to show the bigger money laden labels that things have changed and that the internet is king in promoting and retail of music. Even Noel Gallagher claims that the music industry they signed into no longer exists. when big bands such as Radiohead are basically having to give their albums away, I think its fair to say that that old record shop down in soho is a nostalgia trip rather than a flourishing business. As unfortunate as all this might be its important to keep up with the times and make a stand for real art on the world wide web… websites such as ‘little episodes’ and ‘fledglings art collective’ are already at the forefront of this and do a brilliant job at helping out young musicians, writers and artist alike…

At Hoochie Coochie we believe that peoples tastes have not diminished, and although underestimating audiences seems to be the fashion of the day, instead of sat around literally being brainwashed, we aim to at least make an attempt to turn the tables around. our aim is to give a platform for talented young artist to promote and sell their music, and so they can be in total control, we don’t believe in signing these six album deals to small independent labels who can barley keep themselves above float, and therefore getting great young bands into debt, however once you have your tailored promotional pack, artists bands and all can go which ever way they feel is best for them.
